I think what I liked most about the course was that it helped me see the learning process from a learners perspective and learn to set student learning objectives. Before taking the TESOL course, I had nearly 8 years experience in teaching English as a foreign language, but while taking the course I realized that I used to set activity and involvement objectives rather than mastery/student learning objectives in my lesson plans.
